Carols

On Sunday we had the Christmas carols for our parish, at which the youth band played.
As a member of the youth group as well, I spent the majority of the night selling glowsticks, which was rather enjoyable; I especially love it when shy kids come up to try to buy a glowstick.
The youth band played about half-way throught the night, performing three songs. I'd say we did pretty well, although we had a little trouble with the guitar tuning. Once this was dealt with, the performance went quite smoothly.
Our song list was as follows:
1. Joy to the world, slow start, sped-up after the second verse.
2. Merry Christmas, a Ramones song, very popular with the children.
3. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree. This song was actually a cd, with the youth band singing along with choreographed dance moves.
This completed, we quickly went off-stage, and nought else of interest happened.

Thomas's birthday party

On Thursday was Thomas's fourteenth birthday.
For his party, Thomas had decided to have a laser skirmish party. Invited were both band members, Wes, and Rhys.
The laser skirmish was good, we started of with just a simple kill everyone on the opposing team, which was very enjoyable, and then we moved on to capture the flag. The first game of capture the flag was good, it was a very close game, in the end we ran out of time, so nobody actually got the flag. Then we swapped bases and played another round. For this one, I suggested that my team simply charge into the other team's base and grab the flag. While strategically unsound, this made for a lot of fun, as well as the shortest game of capture the flag I've ever played. Unfortunately our team didn't quite make it, although we only just lost.
We then played a game called snipers and ferrets. This game is fairly simple; one team hides. Once they've picked a hiding spot, the snipers are unable to move from that spot. The other team then goes and tries to kill them within a five minute limit.
After the games of laser skirmish, we then went back to our house for lunch, and played pool. After this Jonathon, Mum and I went to work, and then we had a birthday dinner with a friend, and my brother Greg was over from Adelaide, so he came for that.
All in all, it was a thouroughly enjoyable day.
